'Icebreaker' by A.L. Graziadei

'Icebreaker' by A.L. Graziadei is a book with a lot of potential that ultimately falls flat. The characters, romance and most of the plot is underdeveloped and painfully forgettable. Not even a week has gone by since I read this book, and yet I already have forgotten both of the main characters names. The only saving grace of this book was the mental health story line which I found deeply interesting and even that didn't have a satisfying ending.

If the author had spent more time developing the main character's rivalry and their progression from enemies to friends to lovers, I feel like this book would have easily become one of my favorites. Or, even better, the romance should have been scrapped from the story. The book should have focused instead on the main character navigating university, family expectations and their mental health. The author themselves didn't feel as interested in the romance as she did in the family dynamics of the main character and their mental health.

There were few instances in which I saw an amazing version of this book shine through the pages, which makes it even more disappointing that we were regelated with "insta-love" instead.

Sadly, this book is not a recommendation from me. As I said, its only redeeming quality is the mental health story line and there are better books out there that also deal with this topic.
