'Love on the Brain' by Ali Hazelwood is just as fun and cute as 'The Love Hypothesis'!
Once more, as a STEM student, the main reason why I enjoyed this book so much is probably due to its setting. I find reading about the life of fictional people in the field very cathartic and fun.
I also enjoyed both MCs, especially Levi. I was a huge fan of how understanding and patient he was with Bee's inner issues. Plus, he was a feminist which we always love. And while I did not relate to her as much as I did with Olive, I also loved Bee. She was very smart, cool and a force to be reckoned with. I also loved their chemistry, banter and the fact that they were both so dedicated to their work. They were adorable nerds!
In terms of plot, I found it and the twists mostly predictable. The best part for me was the exploration of Bee's inner demons. I loved exploring how her personal problems and even social media persona affected her professional life. It was interesting to see how friendships and relationships can both be made and broken by being part of this field. I also liked that the author explored how some women support each other in this male-dominated field, but others let themselves be guided by envy and pressure to push other women down. Everything from her stance on love, her dedication to her work and her conflicts with less knowledgable superiors and coworkers was so relatable and fascinating.
My biggest issue with the book and the main reason why it's not a five star for me is that there were way too many miscommunications. Some of them worked for me, but others went on for way too long! I was also not a fan of Rocio for most of the book. I found her childish and annoying.
If you are looking for a book that's fun and cute, then I recommend 'Love on the Brain'; especially if you are part of the STEM field. Disclaimer though, the MCs in this book and their relationship is very similar to that of 'The Love Hypothesis'. Therefore, I wouldn't recommend that you read them consecutively.
